So I'm about to graduate in 2 weeks and I'm having a hard time picking between the two.
I have a friend who works for epes and he loves it there. But cypress recruiter says I can get 2 days off a week so that means more family time.
As well as .49 a mile after training.
Thing I'm not crazy about is it's a north east route and some of the reviews I've been reading are very negative.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated about either company! Thanks!

I worked for Cypress in their local dump fleet, these are the things I can tell you based on observations, I did pull flatbed for them when dumps were slow which was a lot when I was there. Although their loads are "pre tarped" for the most part, the tarps are simply on the load, there's still a ton of work to be done if you don't want to look like a total tool going down the road. They only use 8 foot drops if memory serves me right, so if you have flat sheet steel, you'll have to use an 8 foot drop, they're super heavy, and again they're the only tarps provided.

Training for new drivers is long, I remember hearing guys at the jax yard saying they were scheduled to be on the truck for something upwards of 6 weeks. When I was there, you were not an actual employee of Cypress, you were a driver through a leasing agency asigned to them, I believe it was TLC who was your actual employer.

The shop is solid, always kept the trucks in good working order, they have a safety lane in Jax that you have to pull through every time you're on the yard. I don't know what EPES has to offer, Cypress seemed ok, I worked there a year, I couldn't really tell if they cared about their guys, I had no real complaints but I wasn't impressed either, I wouldn't recommend them but I also wouldn't tell someone not to go there.

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.
