I will always be indebted to Schneider (my current employer) for requiring me to go through a sleep study. With the level of severity of OSA that I have, it's highly possible that it would eventually kill me (that or the direct results of conditions caused by it).

I saw that report, too. I hope it encourages many other drivers to get tested.

So can you run your CPAP (if you're on one) in the sleeper? I'm asking because I'm headed for the sleep lab soon myself.

many cpap machines will run on a 12 volt source (lighter socket) but you will not be able to use the heater on the humidifier (i don't anyway for myself i just leave it cold ) but if you need the heater then you will need an inverter but i assume the manufacturers will respond to this in the future

It wasn't long after I found out that I had sleep apnea I had surgery which appears to have stop my sleep apnea.

I tried my best to use the cpap machine, there just wasn't anyway I could stand that thing.

I didn't know there was a surgical option. But I can say that, with the lack of luck I've had with "surgical corrections," I would do one heck of a lot rather than "going under the knife."

I was actually surprised that I took to the CPAP as well as I did. I don't like anything on my face, I am claustrophobic, and would never have believed I could sleep with a mask on.

What I believe, is that I was in such bad shape when I finally DID get around to getting tested, and getting the machine, that I could have slept through anything. Anyhow, I think it is really the greatest thing to come down the pike.

Yeah, once in a while it will slip out of adjustment, and the straps have to be readjusted. But for the most part, at least in my case, it truly was a Gift From God!
