You are exactly right! I really believe that I am the only driver that pays attention to the speed limit and following distance anymore. Sometimes I don't even do the speed limit because people are always jumping in front of me and I am always pretty close to gross limits or more. 4 wheelers AND truckers come over way too soon. The whole driving world has lost their minds.

 

Everybody is in a darn hurry… It’s like they have to get there like yesterday

 

I will never hit the brakes that hard, and swerve for anyone driving like an idiot. If they want to get hit that bad, I will do all I can to minimize the damage, short of rolling over, or jack knifing. I have smoked brakes in a straight line on level ground, and snapped a chain trying to not kill an idiot, but I drove tankers juuust long enough to ingrain not swerving for anything as reflex.
