Yeah
I powered it from the CB,
Used one of the switches on the front , I don’t remember which one , and I wired it to the external PA speaker plug I think .
You could switch it off with that switch or by turning off the CB
Removing the speaker and mounting the detector in the speaker housing , and the external speaker housing horizontal on the dash , so the detector was horizontal
In its normal operating position.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
The old flat dash 379’s allegedly had the perfect spot behind the the instrument panel to mount an Escort. A hole had to be cut for the sensing eye to peek out certainly nothing noticeable. The external speaker jack had to be used with a CB external speaker, left spot light switch up top controlled it, course for it to come on you had to turn toggle switch on dash too. I have also heard rumors of a lawn mower seat safety switch turning one off and on. If you’re outta the seat it’s off.

Make sure the thumb screws that hold the spreaker to it's mounting bracket are either JB welded or the high strength lock tite

Radar Detectors are illegal to have or use in a commercial motor vehicle. It's not a matter of interpretation. There is an FMCSA reg specifically saying it is illegal.
49 CFR § 392.71 - Radar detectors; use and/or possession.
§ 392.71 Radar detectors; use and/or possession.
(a) No driver shall use a radar detector in a commercial motor vehicle, or operate a commercial motor vehicle that is equipped with or contains any radar detector.
(b) No motor carrier shall require or permit a driver to violate paragraph (a) of this section.

I don’t think anyone on here is arguing that radar detectors in commercial vehicles are against DOT regulations.
changing lane without signaling is against the law too.Speedy356, downplay, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this. -
A few of the replies in this thread specifically said something like "I don't know if radar detectors are legal or not..." or something similar. The fine for a radar detector is much more than not using a turn signal. Radar detectors don't pay for the speeding tickets you earn while using them. They just give you a false senses of security while you are earning a speeding ticket, plus taking your money when you buy them. It's paying for the privilege of earning one or more fines, you know like an IQ test. /sarcasmdownplay Thanks this.

I don’t habitually speed.
I just like to know where the scumbag revenue collection officers are .
and is that dirtbag shooting me with the radar or laser or is he just watching TikTok . -
If you don't speed it doesn't matter if you are warned of the radar shooter or not. A CB can warn of both radar and lasersdownplay and Diesel Dave Thank this.
