the reality is they will use them for linehaul when they do become viable. Weather isn't an issue. Since no HOS to worry about. They can shut down for snow/ice. Then the "local" guys will deliver it the last mile. Granted most of us don't have to worry about losing our jobs. If they can't get driverless cars to work right, currently. What makes people think they'll risk an 80k "sled" killing some soccer mom.

Will the bot get truck repairs done for it right away? Or will it also have to wait hours, days or be told to drive in? LOL! If the bot has to wait will it curse and complain?
Seriously, how many humans will it take to ready the truck, respond to errors, monitor it and intervene when needed?
The primary attraction of replacing humans is no sick leave, vacation, partial day shifts, HR issues, OT, work space (if no human on board how do you redesign the truck to reduce weight and carry more freight? No sleeper, Etc.Another Canadian driver and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -

Not to mention that they relit on an up to date infrastructure that we simply don’t have. There’s a reason they are doing the testing in Arizona and California. The roads are much better, and don’t get as damaged by winter as much. Walmart is using driverless trucks on a 7 mile route from a DC to a store down south.

They’ve already admitted it’s too complex to maneuver the trucks on anything more than a pristine highway of course they’re going to hype it to get more investors into it this is a full time job for these degenerates. Plus if they ever do succeed they’re will be a lot of angry people with all the time in the world to disrupt them 24/7.

So here’s a thought… what’s to stop trailer high jacking? All you have to do is get in front and slow it down until it stops.

What does a human do if he feels or hears a tire go down.. he pulls safely off the road . What will the automated trucks do when mechanical difficulties arise?? Are they taught to colour outside the lines lol
