If that quantum agreement is true as stated in that video which artificially forces the prices lower is not capitalism. That’s price fixing.

If I understood it wrong, some one please clarify.

I think this whole structure must change . It shouldn’t be only about money. What about
    Parking spaces
    Loading /unloading times.
    Decent and clean rest areas
    Fuel price
    Insurance rates

Again, it matters not for the protesters. Accounts receivable and accounts payable are only related insomuch as receivables need to be more than payables to stay in business.

So you want the government’s hand in all of that too? I’m confused.

Why everything has to be the gov. We need to stand up for the abuse. I don’t park in any truck stop. I don’t buy fuel from them either . I don’t haul cheap loads.
Now , there are things such as insurance rates , Deasel , rest areas , and monopolies that someone above us has to stop or fix it .

I’m talking about Jb Hunt, BNSF and Walmart, supposedly they are the ones in that agreement.

if I’m not mistaken, trucking rates is based somewhat on rail rates. So the cheaper is taken.

in this case if rates are still at 1990 levels on the railways then trucking today has to compete with rates from 30 years ago.

this is to me price fixing.

So I’m wrong, I just want someone to explain where my mistake is so that I can adjust my point of view and argument accordingly.

after all we are here to learn.

mom a side note I just read that OOIDA is trying to get congress to pass this as law,

    1) Require brokers to immediately provide an electronic copy of each transaction record as required by 49 CFR 371.3 once the contractual service has been completed. No exceptions. This would allow carriers to identify brokers who truly are taking advantage of them during the crisis, as well as after it.

    2) Explicitly prohibit brokers from including any provision in their contracts that requires a carrier to waive their rights to access the transaction records as required by 49 CFR 371.3.

I think this is what’s needed, anything other then this is no go.

Rest areas are state owned. If you could only buy fuel from one place and insurance from one place then you could say those are monopolies.

    LondRanger,
you don't think that such regulations will kill a lot of small (and probably big)brokers and create a market with big carrier-brokers only?

The rule already exists, brokerages found a loophole. Closing that loophole fixes a lot of things.

After that truckers wouldn’t have a leg to stand on when rates tank because of supply and demand.

Transparency allows people to shop around.
