I could see maybe it originated pre power steering days, when you had to muscle a rig at low speeds maybe. It could just be a super trucker uniform, like a Cape. Lol
I'll second that. If you look at my arms you can tell I drove a package car for years from the amount of sun that beat up my left arm. There was a guy a worked with that got skin cancer on his left arm too, not saying that it was obviously the reason because nobody could know but 25 years of that arm hanging out in the sun.....
Sorry, we had calouses in the pre power steering days, and when we bought gloves it was a whole pair. lol
Sun damaged my left retina. Had a small portion removed and replaced; outpatient. See men and women every day here in Las Vega/Henderson, biking, running jogging, in the sun with no hat or sun glasses, skimpy clothing. Big price to pay in the future. Some people here in their 20's and 30's already having regular visits to dermatologists to have pre-cancerous spots removed from head, face, hands, arms.
The sun is a real threat...you kinda get that forced down your throat as a kid I. Florida and shake it off as nothing until you get to be 40 and half the people you know have skin cancer and eye damage from the sun.
White gloves like Tom Inman drivers, so you look good when you waved. I’d like to see the evening parking circus if there was no power steering.
The real reason for the fingerless gloves is so they can pick their nose without taking their gloves off!
