I’m not picking at this particular driver. I’m picking at all of them that do this.

It doesn’t matter how full or empty it is. Why do so many drivers these days put in so much work (I’ve seen 10-15 mins) trying to nose into a parking spot. With rows of trucks that will definitely be parked across from and most likely both sides of them. The caption said Explain it to me. But honestly there’s no explanation that will make any sense. You can’t back to save your life? But working on being the best hood, faring & mirror relocation expert in the game? I get and understand nosing into a spot that’s a clear shot to get out of. I have never put a lot of work nosing in, just backed in and moved when things cleared out, when I wanted to be. There have been times I wanted to be nosed in, when taking a 34 off for example, and a couple of times during some bad ice storms too.
There have been other times it was easy to nose in, but I wouldn't unless it was late and I knew I was going to sleep late so others cleared out before I needed to get out. getting out is harder than getting in if the spaces are full.

I was guilty of doing that when I first started driving regional. I think I've done it 3 or 4 times until that one day when I couldn't back out for hours. Had to wait on others to leave first. Lesson learned. As for why? I felt uneasy backing in between 2 other trucks. Coming out of the oilfield in New Mexico, I was lacking practice on backing. Plenty of room on the Llano Estacado to turn around!

I whipped in to a truckstop just to grab a shower and a cup of coffee one evening late, after I had loaded in Mt Airy NC. It had some spaces right beside the fuel isle, that were super easy to just nose in, so I did. Big mistake. lol
They were easy as long as there was no line waiting for fuel, impossible to get out if there was. I waited for some 45 minutes to let the line clear, and finally went to bed. lol

Most guys I've talked to that nose in do it to let the trailers on either side of them dampen the noise so that either they can get some more peaceful sleep, or to make sure their reefer doesn't disturb the drivers on either side of them. I don't nose in personally, but I would definitely recommend making sure it's a spot with a straight shot in and an easy back out if you do decide to nose in

when i ran with one or three of my co-workers at one company, we would find spaces like that, one pulled thru, the other got behind, so it was an easy exit for all of us.

only once maybe twice in my entire career on the road, i would have nosed into a spot, but in the back row, and i never had any problems getting out. but yes, some do "make a spot", and that's not necessarily at the curbing along side the parking lot, but at the curved roadway.

Makes sense but at the same time it doesn’t. The driver in that pic? He worked wat least 15 minutes. I thought good job working on hitting that wide open parking spot behind him. He gets lined up? Pulls straight forward and pops the brakes.

Refers. Drivers complaining about refers, grab a 12 volt tornado fan and some soft earplugs. Is it a pain? Yep. But it is what it is.

Right. Putting in just a little common sense makes all the difference.

The reason I nosed in for 34's and such, was to get away from the noise of reefers and idling trucks, exhaust of them, plus apu's too. I never remember any reefers nosing in, so the rest of us didn't have to hear it, but maybe some do.
