There's a couple in MPLS that will sit there with binoculars looking for trucks with no seatbelt and ignore the cars that just cut you off or the ones passing you at 80 in a 60 and pull you over for no seatbelt.

I just don’t know that I could bring myself to stir that pot. I have had several clean inspections over the years and also a few that weren’t so desirable. the problem is if they want to cause trouble they will literally find something even if it’s bs…like the hose that opens the tailgate on the dump trailer….or a brake hose that maybe could rub the frame but probably never had…or a chunk of grease stuck to the frame that the driveshaft flung. The most recent level one we had was a traveling Missouri guy who apparently admitted that he had pulled the truck over because it was older…45 minutes later he was satisfied that it was safe to drive. He actually told the driver how good of shape the truck was in…happy ending on that one

He was loaded right after that at a steel DC off of DIxy Highway and dropped the trailer at Kennedy in Van Wert then went to Monroeville to pick up another trailer and drop that off at another place down the street from Kennedy. On his way back, he got pulled into the weigh station on 30, they found five brake-related problems that TA ignored, which had the officer ask what did they actually inspect and put right on the paperwork it doesn't look like they actually did an inspection. I sent a copy to TA, and they took corrective actions for that location from what I was told. We got an apology and a refund but we started to use another group of companies for inspections, no more TA. It is the same reason why I don't use them for oil changes, they screwed up a few drain plugs on a few trucks with what looks like an impact wrench when they cross-threaded the plug. I can see one but not a few. TA in Tennesee actually took out the Fumoto drain we just put in and then lost it, putting in another plug and using silicon to get it to seal right.Constant Learner, RedForeman, Rideandrepair and 5 others Thank this. -

Frist off, no way I'm pulling into a coop and requesting an inspection. That could be risky because I'm a firm believer that if they look hard enough they will find something, or even make something up if needed.
Second, I don't no how inclined they would be to honor your request. I guess they might if they need more inspections to boost their quota. In my experience, most officers just don't care and do as little as possible. Sure, they will meet their inspection quota and check all the boxes on the inspection, but most are just going though the motions. There is a minority that actually do care, and are good officers, and will write you a big ticket if needed but aren't going out of their way to cause you trouble. Then their is another minority that is on a power trip and get their kicks off of just causing people trouble, if you get this guy you could have a problem, and this is the guy that is likely to volunteer to give you a requested inspection to prove a point.nikmirbre, Rideandrepair, D.Tibbitt and 4 others Thank this. -

<sarcasm> Yes, because that will make them actually be competent.
