What you had was an "OPEN" (burned fuse) not a "SHORT".. having said that, a momentary short may have over loaded the fuse..

Never over fuse a circuit, what ever burned the fuse this time may melt the wire the next(with larger fuse)..

Not smart what you did!!!! You still have a problem most likely. Put the right fuse back in. If it still blows you have a short. If you leave that bigger fuse in you may start to melt wires or cause a fire.

Well the reason I got a slightly bigger fuse in it is because I got a bunch of light running out of the circuit

But you still have the same size wires in the truck. You'd be better off using a spare slot and running a separate circuit for the extra lights.

    Gator387 and Hammer166 Thank this.

Boy if that don't make me remember the old days, when the switches handled the load instead of relays... add in the current draw of incandescents, and you had trucks with a half a dozen switches for all the marker lights!

Replace the fuse with a rated circuit breaker, it will protect the truck and reset once the load is off..

    best of both worlds...

Well I took my truck back to the shop that had worked on it last time for the same issue and I had a shop foreman work on it and he found two exposed wires rubbing together and he got that fix now I got all my lights working , feeling good
