hi guys, like I said its an 06 Freightliner C120. It seems that in the summer time its a lot louder than it is in the winter. I think it might have something to do with the air conditioner being on. I'm not certain though. What's happening is when I go up hill it makes a loud rumbling sound from the driver side floor. its been doing it since I bought the vehicle March Of 14, but it seems to be getting louder as time goes on. Any idea what I should check to see what's making the noise?

Probably the exhaust pipe coming off the turbo running underneath the passenger floor board. Might be a broken bracket under there, or rusted out, or just loose or something. Crawl under it with a flash light and check it over.

I was just pulling on the pullies that the belt coming off the a_c are connected to. I'm assuming they're not supposed to move at all if you grab 1 and shake it?
-
If i grab this one and turn it it clicks a little back and forth

I will also check the exhaust pipe once it stops raining

Not sure I follow? The pulley has slop in it?
-
Yeah, if I grab that metal pulley and shake it it turns just the tiniest bit.

I don't see anything wrong with you golf. Plus, that runs down the passenger side

Might be time to replace the belt tensioner, or possibly check the idler pully. When the tensioner wore out on mine you could see glazing on the belt, and periodic squealing. Had nothing to do with going up or down hills.
Yours looks like it has a Detroit,.. not sure how the Detroit cooling fan engages,.. the noise going up hills could be attributed to the fan coming on and off. I have a CAT in my C120 and the fan has an air actuated clutch. You know when its on. Pull the belt off and check all your pullys. I did that with mine while replacing the tensioner.
I had a C15 in a 386 where the spindle to an idler pulley on the front plate to the Alt broke off. Talk about a costly replacement. Had to take it to CAT while out on the road for that one.
I would also crawl under there and check your exhaust. I had a clamp on the flex elbow at the back of the sleeper rust through and created an exhaust leak. Wasnt too loud except when I kicked on the jake. Cheap fix.
