I'm not sure this will be true on your 06, but on the older models there's a harness that has a plug that comes into the heater box on the passengers side and has two screws (I can't remember what it is called) and it has a spring in it that acts like a relay, when it gets hot (weak) it will kick the blower off, not real expensive. I hope this helps.

How difficult is it to replace the blower motor?

    Easy as hell.

Open the hood and go to the P/S. You'll see a black box with A/C lines going into it and the expansion valve mounted directly to it. There's a plate that's held on by four screws that is curved. Take it off and the blower motor will be attached. Unplug the two wires coming off of it (making sure to note which one goes where, you don't want to put it back together and have the fan spin backwards) and remove the motor from the plate. You'll need to remove the squirrel cages as the new motors do not come with them.

Mine did that for a couple months. Drove me insane. Changed The fan motor speed controller, then the fan motor. Same problem, ran fine but kicked out after a few seconds on High. In the end it was the A/C clutch relay for defrost. It's in the opposite corner of the panel from the heater breaker so i never found it when looking for hot ones. Replaced that relay and now no probs for 2yrs
