    2007 7400 with DT466E

The truck will run and start fine, but looses power to tach, speedo, oil pressure, oil temp, and trans temp. gauges.

When you turn the key to the on postion, if the PDL/Power Divider Lock switch is flashing the gauges will not work. Also the check trans yellow light will be on.

Now if if the PDL is not flashing. Everything will work corectly for anyware from 5-15 min. I do a run test with cruise set and the idle at 800-1000 RPM. By doing this you can get it to malfunction. It will slightly flash the PDL switch, kick the cruise off, and cut power to the left side gauges. This will come and go as the PDL light flashes.

I believe the data link system may be ok. I get 2.4v and 2.6v while checking the wires. And 60 ohms with the batteries disconected. Which seems to check out ok.

Any help with this would be helpfull, Thanks.

All those gauges are fed from the 1939. The PDL goes through a private 1708. PDL wiring doesn't go through the dash at all. Only thing in common is the body controller. We see this type of behavior when we have our diagnostic software connected to the diagnostic plug when check for codes or whatever. Is there anything tapped into the datalinks at all?

I think the data links are are ok. At first the voltage was in the 1.8v range (not even), but still way low of the 5v. If I had the new laptop with software the state just purchased for our district that might help. But it isn't ready yet. Also while doing electrical checks on this thing, before it would do it more commonly. I noticed if the PDL was flashing, with the key in the on postion. After say 5-10 min I could hear something lightly click like resetting. Then the PDL didn't flash and the gauges worked.
This old state dumptruck has had alot of work done on it in the last few months. New cam/lifters, head gone though 3/17/14. And while it was in the shop for the electric issue. I noticed coolant dripping out of turbo and exhaust. EGR cooler was leaking.

There isn't much you can without the diagnostic software to see what is going on and to check for any fault codes. All you can really do for now is make sure all your cab grounds and powers are clean and tight. The PDL is a body controller output to an air solenoid pack usually mounted on the left frame rail near the trans. See if there is any corrosion, or any wires rubbed through. You should have the cab with the power distribution box near the steering shaft at the firewall. There is rat's nest of wiring in that area and a ton of places for wires to rub through and short out.

Im going to say it must be a wire or a relay someware. Acts more like a relay flickering. We have two of these trucks, so one became the doner for the body controller (under back of cab), dash gauge cluster, and ECM. Of course one at a time. And yes the problem is still there. And yes that is a real rats nest. I guess through the years this truck has had alot of electrical problems since it was new. I've cleaned the ground and pos. above the fuse box. Cleaned the fuses and relays and applied dielectric greese. Along with adjusting any pins that were loose. And have wiggled almost every wire on the dang thing. I was thinking exploding target material would be the best thing for it.
