It's a gamble with that little bit of money. I would buy the cheap truck and roll the dice.

If you run out of money ,park the truck and go back company.

My crystal ball shows a new o/o bent over and all wide-eyed and bushy-tailed.
My mirror showed me the same thing 3 years ago....because I started out with low capital.

I think it is rather self-explanatory, but since you asked : After I bought my truck and trailer, authority, insurance, etc., I had a little over $10k in the bank to start out on the road. My rig had all new tires, healthy engine and drivetrain, suspension, etc. My first 2 months were spent driving less than I should have been because there were many surprise repairs that had to be done away from home, meaning expensive mobile repairs and downtime. Those monthly payments don't wait until you catch up.
By the time my rig was reliable, I was behind on capital, but I had developed good relationships with a handful of good brokers and one direct customer. I was generating good revenue for about 6 mos., just getting out of the red, and then one day my engine abruptly began to drink oil...LOTS of oil. At the same time, my tires were worn out, not enough money in the bank, would have needed to borrow around $30k to keep going, not to mention the monthly bills still want paid and with expectancy of an extended downtime for in frame...I sold my truck, took a crappy local job, and later, by the grace of God, I was offered a contract from a company that I'd been with before that pays me well.
I got back in to that deal on the cheap cheap cheap and with many prayers, but this time it worked out and I am doing quite well. When I go back to 18 wheels instead of 6, it will be with a bit more wisdom and a LOT more capital.

What was your truck and engine ... I have an old truck lots of miles, my mechanic says run it until it starts to drink lots of oil. Burning/leaking 1 gal to 6000 miles or so right now. Right at 2,300,000 km or about 1.426m miles. Rebuilt about 500,000 miles ago.

Mine was a 2005 international 9200, c-13 acert. It had around 750,000 miles on the odometer when it happened. The speedometer had been replaced with one from another truck (i later discovered) but my cat tech never said whether there was a discrepancy compared to the ECM, but I suspect there was. Mine went from nearly zero oil consumption to using a gallon in 3600 miles within one week. Turbos were fine, no leaks at all. I knew a cylinder went down because it simultaneously lost power even while i had 42 psi of boost
