I just looked up Crete pay package for O/O. Please do yourself a favor and listen to the consistent advice. Wait it out until you get more capital and then find a real company to lease on to that pays you by the load and not some sliding pay scale per mile. Mileage pay is a sure way to fail for a O/O. Do your research.

A lot of good advice here.
I dont think anyone here (Myself included) is trying to deny you your end goal of becoming an O/O.
But when you jump into something with out truly understand all of the small details involved, its not smart business. Your borrowing money on a used high mileage truck with barely enough capitol to be one break down away from taking a dirt nap. I'm sorry man,.. but thats the cold hard reality of what you are doing.
I honestly hope you prove us all wrong.

If you're dead set on gambling then please find a better company. Buying a used truck working for a company that pays mileage just doesn't make business sense. You'll likely want 2500 miles a week to make decent money I assume. But you could go to a better company suited for owner ops and make the same money on 1500-2000 miles which would save a ton of wear and tear and fuel. If you wanna be a big boy don't cheat yourself like your doing

Doesn't matter where you live it's all in how you operate. I live in Florida also and I manage. @Hurst also lives in Florida. We do what's best for our business. But honestly $6000 capital and in this dead market you should try to get up to $15k but hurst showed you how fast $30k got eaten up.
tonycr Thanks this. -
I live in Fla also,.. there are 47 other contiguous states that you can easily hire through and still live in Fla.
I am leased through a carrier based out of Illinois.
I understand what its like to want something so badly, that you will do anything to make it happen. Truth is, people are like sheep,.. they stick to the same pastures and familiar landscape they know and understand. Thus your reasoning for using Crete. You seen an opportunity and I'm assuming this is the only one you have examined? You are familiar with Crete,.. its what you know. Reality check,.. its what you dont know or didnt expect that will come back to bite you.
The first thing you need to do to be an O/O is to get out of the company driver mentality. Becoming an O/O you are going into business for yourself. As such you need to know as much about everything there is to know. Dont sell yourself short by restricting your earning potential with a company like Crete.
I'm trying to be as sincere as I can here. Do yourself a favor and do some more research and read up on other companies. You are on the right path. Buying a truck and leasing it on under a companies authority is the easiest and most affordable route to get into becoming an O/O. But man,.. dont shoot yourself in the foot before you even pull your first load.
Cover your bases and have a back up plan for a worst case scenario.
