Well I leave tomorrow (Saturday 09/21/2013) for the Springfield MO Prime orientation. I'm going in with my CDL Permit DOT Card and DMV longform which I found out is useless because Prime will issue me a new one when I got it 3 weeks ago.. Lol anyways I'm hoping for the best. I already have the basic knowledge of driving (Been driving for about a month now) It's a 1 day and 15hr bus ride which I'm really looking forward too. I've done a lot of research and am comfortable with my decision to go ahead with Prime. Get my one year done then come back home and work. Orientation from what I heard seems pretty normal. Glad I already have my permit and knowledge so will put me a little ahead somewhat. I've read most of the threads but just seeing if anyone wants to offer some last advice etc!
Wish me luck everyone!

hi, congrats on your decision to get into driving over the road.. do your best and most importantly go slow in terms of trying to push miles there is much more to learn hands on.. your first years income is mild but second years income gets better.. should you ever need to vent or talk or want to know things do contact me.. i'm retired but i enjoy keeping in touch with drivers running over the road.. michael murillo email: rinconeast@aol.com

Dam 1 day and 15 hr bus ride !! Where are you from ?
How long did it take for them to get you into orientation ? -
I'm coming out of California
It took about a week only because my old boss was impossible to reach, and I had to call most of my references etc because it was taking a lot longer than usual to get a fax back to them etc. My recruiter was really nice and helped me through the process even had to call her 50 times lol. If you can get a hold of your references etc it will speed up the process much quicker and don't have like 50 jobs for them to call etcLast edited: Sep 20, 2013

when you arrive they'll get you settled in and the following day you will start after breakfast.. its easy going and they will get around to taking care of what needs to be done first hand.. take a deep breath and relax it will all come together they more than want you to succeed.. the fact you have been approved for orientation is already a major step in your favor.. i, still have friends who are currently drivers for Prime.. the cost for bringing in drivers for training is serious money and so you will find its serious business.. there is much to do and be on time for everything is important it will all pay off for you in the long run..

My advice is stay awake all night so you can sleep during your long boring busride.

Thanks, Yeah was a pain in the ### getting in. I'm going in with a positive attitude and making the best out of my journey! I hope everything works out. Physical I should be good my BP is usually around 128/65 highest 135/80 So everything should be good!
@PattyJ
Haha that's my plan!
pattyj Thanks this. -
Oh yea duh on my part . Thats why your name is CAtrucker.. lol
I didn't pay attention to that .
I only have 2 previous places of emoyment for them to call , so maybe it could be kinda quick then .
Good luck to ya ... -
haha no worries!
Yeah they fax over a paper that verifies employment. Should be smooth sailing as long as you wern't laid off for something dumb and driving record clean.
Good luck man, I will keep everyone updated with a step by step daily how orientation was etc, seeing some of these threads are a little older. -
Another piece of advice is rush to get the back seat, lol. If you have to share the seat hopefully its with someone you can talk to.My last ride wasn't too bad because I sat with a guy from Washington and we took the same buses the entire trip but the last one.
