Ok, here's my deal. I apologize if this question has been asked a million times, I'm on my iPhone and don't want to waste data with an hour of research.
I have a 09 freightliner Columbia. Detroit series 60. The Qualcomm nazi shuts my truck off after 5 min, I don't believe I have opti idle in this truck. To check, I started engine, and activated cruise control. No opti idle lamp illuminated.
The truck shuts off and it gets hotter than hades in here. Truck doesn't restart.
Truck has a "BUNK OVRRD" button, what is that???
How do I get this dang thing to idle??? Tomorrows high is 92, and I'm stuck waiting for a load in a low freight area. May be 18 hours according to company.
Be gentle, if its something I should have already figured out. I'm a poor Montana boy. We are used to just rolling down windows.
09 Columbia AC issues.

BUNK OVRRD: Is used to overide settings in bunk to match those in cab. That way you do not have to stop on roadside and run back to the bunk and reset to what you would like whole truck to be. Don't know about idle thingy. Have never had a truck that restricted idle time. Have an idea: set trailer brakes and leave tractor brakes released. Put a something on throttle to add a few RPM and see what happens. Other than that, have a MILD heat stroke and go to hospital and file a lawsuit against company.

Well you can try calling your companies shop and see what they say to do. I have been in trucks where a light comes on in the instrament panel, after about 5 mins, then depress either the clutch or brake pedal and that is the way to over ride the shut down sequence.
The bunk over ride button is for when you leave the bunk controls set, and you want to turn them off. Lets say you start out, the heat is on back there or the a/c and you can't get back there to turn off the controls, the bunk over ride switch turns off everything back there.
do you have in the bunk a box that is your optimized idle controls, some older trucks still have them.
Like I say, if your a company driver, contact your company and find out what to do. Or if its your own truck, take it to a Detroit Diesel place and get them to correct your idle by turning that crap off.
good luck to you. -
put a stick or something on the throttle pedel should let u keep the truck running
-
set the brakes, with the truck at normal idle bump the cruise control switch..... it should raise the idle to approx 900rpm and the truck should run as long as you want it to....
Cjh_army Thanks this. -
Your Company might have a Temp idle thing on there where you can't idle from 35-70 degree?? Most of time you if just wait for the light to come on for an shut down hit the gas it should not do it again..

Ok Montana Hana
Are you Smarter Than a Freight Shaker or what?
What would happen if U released the tractor brake and left the trailer brakes on ? ( Flat Ground Only )
The schmuck truck would think it's time to GO And the trailer saying NO NO NO
and while the truck Arguing with the trailer whether to Go or Not

Thanks for the advice guys! With exception to the Hannah Montana reference, lol.
I will try them all, (including calling the shop.)
and no, I am not smarter than this freight shaker. This old girl has issue after issue, and recently spent four days in Amarillo, where the poor freightliner shop had to fix the ghost that had been sending EGR codes, and de rating her. Now that that is handled, I can focus on my creature comforts.
