Plus fsc?
You can keep the lights on at $1.82 depending on what your fixed costs are... but how long will this last? Carriers are know to promise these 'dedicated' runs only to pull them from you after a short time to entice another O/O into the fold...
I'd ask why this run is available and why isn't another driver doing it...Bankrobba Thanks this. -
it read's like it's all inclusive. / the rate may work for you, but what if fuel keeps going up? do you get a adjustment on the rate? i.e. FSC
Bankrobba Thanks this. -
If it is $1.82 plus fsc on all miles and your pulling their trailer I would do it. Who cares how long it lasts, has anything that was good ever lasted then you move on to something else. If fuel goes up fsc has to go up to, if it don't they can find someone else to haul it.Bankrobba Thanks this. -
Thanks for the feedback guys....My brother is a manager at a large food shipping and warehousing outfit and has contol of the trucking end of it and is urging me to do this. Says he could send me enuff work to keep 5 trucks busy if I wanted...
Not sure if its a contract deal yet...its a customer...my Ins. and authority plus fsc....
I need to press my 'sometimes' overly enthusiastic little brother for some more info I guess.... lol -
At that rate plus fuel surcharge and there trailers i would definatly take it. Nothing good last forever so get it while you can before its gone.

Don't just look at revenue per mile. Also look at revenue per day. So if you add current fsc to that rate and you go out one day and back the next you are looking at $800/day. So the first thing to remember is that it is not for us to say if that is a good per mile rate. You have to know if you can make money at that. Then you have to look at if you can only go one way each day, can you make enough on that side as well.

It would be wise for you to figure out what your costs per mile are first. I am really suprised that nobody else here has mentioned that. If it costs you 1.75 a mile to run your truck, including paying yourself a descent wage (.40 or more) then it doesnt really seem like its all that good of a deal does it....
Do yourself a favour and get your CPM first before doing anything...then you will know how much profit there is for the business account.Bankrobba Thanks this. -
I have trucks here in Michigan, That do dedicated runs like that and to tell you the truth it sounds good. If you can tell me how long the trips are, Ill help with the CMP and the profit makings. The bad part about the dedicated lanes I do, is they ar 40k+pound and kill the trucks.I get about 6mpg in a volvo with cummins.

It's all about what your bottom line needs to be. I am on a dedicated lane, pulling their trailers, loaded down at 4,500lbs and back empty. 2,700 miles a week. It's not much, but I get close to 9mpg and bring home just under $2,300 each week after costs, I work Mon-Thurs and actually get to have a life outside of the truckstops LOL
