I only have 1 ticket on my record from 2008 a 67 in a 55 speeding, Werner just denied my cause of it, so I am hoping it won't be a problem with swift. Any Ideas? Thanks
1 ticket 67 in a 55 is that a problem

Well; you can't go that fast with swift so maybe, just maybe....

The sad fact is they got bodies lined up at the door by the hundreds trying to get a job. They can be pretty much as picky as they want to be right now. That being said, good luck. I hope they hire you.

did you fight the ticket? getting an OTR job living in MI is going to be an uphill battle any way.

Even if you can get on over at Swift, in July you will be paying a big price for getting the ticket. Thanks to CSA 2010. However, if Swift is hiring you stand a good chance to get on there. Just one thing. The last I heard they were only hiring driver to go through their school.

Get your passport and a hazmat endorsement. Or atleast just the passport. Call werner and tell them you want to work on "zone 7". They might hire you on that run. They basically run freight into and out of Toronto, you'll be on the east coast, crossing the borders 5 to 7 times a week. It pays the same as 48 state OTR does....but its probably the only run they can hire you on. you have to live near detroit for it, i was told within an hour or so. I think port huron is an hour away from detroit.
Only bad thing is i've heard from some people that they wont let you take the truck home if you dont live really close to the drop yard in Woodhaven (Detroiter truck stop). Basically to get home you'll get a load from Toronto to drop off at that drop yard.
But i'd totally drive a couple hours every couple of weeks to get to/from work.
I live in the Benton Harbor metro area, other side of the state, so I don't know what kind of miles you'll get but I spoke with the manager of the account and he told me that they get about 2000 a week. That's why i'm not rushing to move to detroit and do it myself. Hell, I'm taking a load from Toronto to the detroit drop yard to ge home from pennsylvania. LOL.
Anyway, freight is really bad in michigan, but theres a lot of freight coming from Toronto that passes through michigan. Since the hiring area is so small it's pretty easy to get on that run.
It was almost impossible for me to get on with Werner, because i live in michigan. Impossible with the other bottom feeders.
I have two tickets, one for making a jughandle and one for 5 over speeding.
Good luck -
