1 ticket on driving record for newbie

1 ticket is no real issue at all... unless it falls into the category of a Major violation..

first off Ive never heard of a ticket for something so minor. I roll past cops on a daily basis in class A or B vehicles. But I do try to get in the furthest lane whenever possible. You should do that for anyone on the road, especially bicyclists and pedestrians. but back on topic most OTR companies will give you a 3 point in 3 year lee way for hire. so stay smart and stay safe.

I never heard that u couldn't pass a parked cop lol.Unless of course u stayed in the right lane and the officer was on that shoulder then I could see that it wouldn't be a good idea.

 

That ticket probably had something to do with not moving over into the next lane. Indiana has a move over and slow down campaign going on. That is where a emergency vehicle is sitting on the side of the road and you do not slow down or move over they can and will give you a ticket for that. To many police officers have been injured by careless motorist not moving over. Sorry to hijack your thread on this topic.

 

Delaware had just past that law last year that says you must move to the next lane when there's an emergency vehicle on the shoulder. I'm sure there will be other states to follow. Of course common sense plays a factor here too so if you can't move over you must slow down. It's not such a minor ticket anymore with all the accidents that happen with parked vehicles. Every time I watch those police shows that deal with traffic they'll always show the vehicle that either hits the car or comes too close.

However, I don't think that this ticket would prevent you from gaining employment from all companies but I'm sure it would limit you from the best. You'll just have to start over again and set your goals to keep your record clean.

 

You'll be okay with that ticket. You may not have to take a refresher course. I would apply to a few companies first that interest you. Let them tell you, that you need a refresher course. Don't take it until you know you have no other choice. It may save you $1000.00. Those refresher courses are not cheap. Since you are employed driving commercial vehicle, they may just have you ride with a trainer for a certain amount of time. I wouldn't worry about that ticket though, its minor.
