    No. Stay out of this.

I for one on principle REFUSE 3 drivers to a truck, thats a form of abuse to all three and a greed symptom on form of the carrier.

Two in a space smaller than a bathroom will either make you enemies and kill each other or you two will form a unnatural bond as a team. Two people who have problems or essentially no knowledge does not a team make.

I was allowed to teach my wife and my company FFE told me they didnt care as long she can keep it safe going forward. Took about two or three weeks before I realized she is a second seat team with me. I let her do some things I hate like paperwork, and I deal with really big truck problems she knows nothing about. What a crew. We got away with it almost a year. Until obesity and pre medical issues became very apparent based on the lifestyle and diet. In order to save her health it was enough of trucking for her. Cancer came along soon after anyway. We got almost 15 years together. Real sweet. But trucking? Nope. Nuh uh. She turned in her CDL and some years later I did too thinking the USA will activate grandfathered drivers like me for tier two purposes. And here we are with reefer trailers full of the dead. Im also battling surgical problems that will resolve when COVID19 is resolved anyway.

To be in a truck faced with the entire USA and all the things that can happen, good, bad, planned, whoops, or accidents, injury, arrest, fines or death even prison far from home.... I like being home right now. But a part of me will die a trucker and I sit many nights following our trucks.

For you two. This is not the industry. Not now. We expect about 25 million in the morning to filed for unemployment. The Small business money ran out today. Congress will have to fix all that. While the Army is stepping into hospitals to help fight Covid19.

In times like this stay home. Home sweet home with all the good, bad and drama. Its much better this way for now.

Its going to get really bad according to the Cass Index report on the industry in the USA combined with a absolute all stop in all big rig orders and used car buying and other sectors. Then get worse.

Use this time to stay home with those you love and work out day by day doing what you can.

At some point all of this will stop and they will want drivers again, DMV, Courts, Schools training, and revenuers etc all open up for business along with doctors offices for DOT medical and federal govt for endorsements and other things. Like Canada, passport, fast card, twic etc.

IF i have a lifetime out there and I am saying IM HAPPY to be home despite new big problems associated with then I would think you two will be wise to stay home too when there is no knowledge of how crazy it is out here.

    Sir
There are many good folks who have given you a range of choices, as well as good advice , from experienced hands in this business. You now post your own negativity.
So - no one here is stopping you from doing it your way. So go ahead. Get an accountant, a lawyer, insurance agent. Oh there’s a bunch more stuff. You’ll figure out. Good luck

PS - Please report back here in a year or 6 months and let us know how ya doing or did.

OP- dont let posters here get under your skin. Ask specific questions but limit how much you share.

There is no reason it cant be done.. Ive worked for 3 different employers who were just trying to keep wayward family busy. Its a chore and may not make money but it might be cheaper than lawyers and bailouts. OTOH it may consume all your time and ruin you financially.

I kinda like the idea of part time OTR where you trade the truck out every week or so.

He doesn't mean 3 drivers in one truck; he means slip seating.

    MikeinNeb Thanks this.

Then he will need a desk man and a phone on it plus a chair or two so they can argue who can work when and why not. Plus a office to do that in.

His office can be his "man cave" in his house.
I see where he's coming from though. He's asking questions which is important. Some people make the move first, then ask question later. He's doing it the right way.

Thanks. I get the ebbs and flows of the business and how at times you can't make money, no matter how good you are and how well you are set up.

And don't worry about me, I deal with mental lightweights all the time. I'm used to it...:)

Maybe start a lawn care business instead of trucking.

Start up cost would be alot cheaper and you can work year round and set your own rates.

With zero trucking experience I would never consider buying a truck.

The failure rate in this industry is extremely high because guys don't do their research and are under funded coming into to the business.
