I see what happened now; you're pulling dry van. Get with a good flatbed or tanker company. You should be taking home no less than a grand a week as a company driver. Melton Truck Lines and System Transport are two excellent flatbed companies; there are others also. For the best pay, get those tanker/hazmat endorsements along with a passport & TWIC.

    Bamaslamma Thanks this.

Yep, that's a good site. Also check Careerbuilder and Indeed.

Craigslist is also a good one . I like doing tanker work (not petroleum aka gas) there's no real rush on doing the job . But you have to research the companies thoroughly until you find that one ! Good luck

Thanks for the input, sir. As you said, I definitely feel that if I get out of general freight and into more specialized market, I'll do a lot better. There's a company in Alabama that I kind of have a shoe in on, that hauls military munitions, etc, due to my past line of work. (Bearded contractor) I'll not elaborate on the afore mentioned profession... Bulk tanker.... Now THAT is something that I am very interested in. I hear those guys knock it out of the park on payday lol. However, I'm not looking for the job that necessarily pays the best, but one that will have more consistency. Someone mentioned Melton... I have looked into them. Hard enough to know that once I called, I received AUTOMATED phone calls, email etc. I currently work for a mega-grind-you-into-dust, company. Melton just wouldn't be a good fit. Thanks for the replies fellas, and please keep em coming!!

If you live near Montgomery, check with Thyssenkrupp Steel for tanker & flatbed driving jobs.
Bulkmatic has 3 terminals in AL.
A&R Transport has a terminal in AL.
Some good flatbed companies around Birmingham; Melton is one of them, but you have to apply online.

......and THAT is EXACTLY why I haven't made that jump. I will not, ever again, run teams. I was forced into it for 8 weeks with my current company. Absolute nightmare to say the least. (I lost about 30 pounds due to sleep deprivation and stress).

Chinatown, I am from NW Alabama, and have looked into AR, as they have a terminal/yard in Decatur. However, unfortunately, they require more experience than I have to offer. I'll check into ThyssenKrupp, but I'm pretty sure they are mostly Mobile/Montgomery based. Thanks for the advice.

Semper Fi, Devil Dog. I was an 0331. The Ma Deuce was the live of my life until I met my soon to be, (if she'll say yes), wife.
