Early in my career, I was at a point in my life (and depressed, like you) where I decided I would rather quit driving than ever sleep in a truck again. I found a local opportunity and went for it. I have never looked back; it was the best decision I ever made.

If some OTR company won't hire me because I haven't slept in a truck for 10 years, so be it. But I have a feeling most would hire me in a heartbeat if I had to go that route. Maybe not; doesn't matter. There are thousands of daycabs running around my city every day to choose from.

Thanks, man, I needed to hear that. I feel like a crybaby or less than a "real" trucker for not wanting to be away from home anymore. Driving is the best job I've ever had and my only marketable skill it's just the otr part that's starting to get to me. That, and the measly paychecks.

When i had 6 months experience i had an opportunity to do something better but i stuck it out for the full year at my first company. I dont want to say i regret it but me suffering longer at a job i hated just to say i was there for 1 year didnt really do anything for me. Secure the job and make sure you have it in writing 100% chance they hired you then go for it.
