I totally agree with widowmaker and that's what I told the school recruiter. my feeling is there is only so much you can learn in a classroom and more than half of the 6 month will be spent in the classroom instead of behind the wheel. they are also offering a 1 month program for 6000 dollars which is still very expensive. allstate career center is the only cdl school that has the ptdi certification in the pittsburgh area. is this certification that important to spend twice is much money on? I I have to stay in pittsburgh through school so I can work. I want to make sure I go to the right school. it is very important to me to be the best driver in most professional driver that I can be. My goal is to pay my dues for the first 6 months to a year with is much home time as possible to stay with my family and specialize in tankers or flat bed so I can go local and still make decent money.

i thought NJ schools were expensive averaging around $4000 for a 4 week course. only one community college here that is $3665, but i'm not even sure if their website is up to date.

Yeah but how did you get a job after that. Thats what I did 10 years ago for my class B, easy to find a job driving straight truck local. BUT, did the same thing a little over a year ago for my class A, Still have not been able to find a job driving anything bigger than a Drywall boom or dual axle dump.

Would love to go OTR, but keep getting the same thing, not enough experience, and refresher course would not work.

geez....i did 380hrs at the local community college here and only paid $854

the comm coll route is the best to go if you can get in one of those programs and generally they are tied in with good companies.....as well as the usual suspects

the pdti will matter to alot of companies, usually the better ones......to some it won't....but, well, if they don't care the quality of graduate they get, that should tell you something about the company as well

better to go to the pdti school if you can get into one

choice of schools is just as important as choice of company....you'll either be pleasantly surprised and well trained or get shoved through with just enough to get your license and telling horror stories...there really seems to be no in between

do your homework....starting here is a really good choice......

    good luck to you

Half of my student loans with ASC don't start the repayment process until 2015. Only the portion that is not Federal Student Loans is being paid by me right now. Those are the loans I had to take out b/c my FAFSA score was way too high.

That was a good price for ur license well done. I did 200 hrs and paid 1500 in 3 installments and walked out with a CDL and a local AG gig. Why are these schools trying so hard to jipp the little guy?
