It's not a misunderstanding if you wrote something other than what you meant to say. Here it is:
That is not what I said you said. Here that is:
OK.
10 day training? Are you high?

Ready or not with training like this, how many has Watkins failed, not many I bet. They wanna hurry up and get that student qualifiedI haven't looked but I bet they have a poor safety score to prove that.
-
Sometimes its hard for me to explain what I mean to a new driver. No need to rub it in my face.If I was to train someone on the mountains, you bet I would train them on the safest and proper way.Like I said, never have I faced any problems on any mountains.
-
If trainees aren't willing to learn the proper way then why do companies turn them loose anyway.Because bottom line is companies do not care and never will care. They are as bad as the ones not willing to learn because they let it happen. They know a lot of the accidents are from poor training and would rather fire them then get to the problem as to why this happened and then better their training program.Plus the trainers now days all you need is what 6 months exp?Do u feel that's enough time behind the wheel to be a trainer? That's like the blind leading the blind?Wonder how much exp the trainers at Watkins have.

easy to go look it up...
Watkins & shepard
they have 820 power units on the road.
unsafe driving category, they have a 78.3% rating. They had 181 violations for the month of 4/25/2014...90 of those are speeding violations... 49.7%
Now for comparison, Werner... 10 times the size
8332 units
unsafe driving, 52.2% rating, they had 1,873 violations for the month of 4/25/2014... 742 of those are speeding violations... 39.6%
and Stevens...
1985 units
unsafe driving, 35% rating, they had 421 violations for the month of 4/25/2014... 125 of those are speeding violations... 29.7%
Now is speeding a training issue, company culture, or is it personal responsibility? -
I think its a great thread, look how much attention its attracted.

I personally feel like i'm a pretty fast learner and apply common sense to most situations, but I had extensive schooling for my CDL and then about 40 days training with experienced competent trainers. I probably would have done OK without all of this, but I think that it REALLY helped me to prepare for being solo. I appreciated my schooling and training after all its sink or swim out here!!! You can be baptized by fire or ease into it, but the amount of good training you recieve will overall help in the beginning.
-
I went to school for my CDL A twenty years ago. It was for three weeks and I think one week was in the classroom. I started out on a city route with a single axle Jap cabover and a 45'- 12'6" -96" box trailer. I never had one accident since I've been driving. I really never counted my miles but I have at least 1.5 million and have drove in most states across the nation and in all types of weather.

I am of the thought that 10 days is too much. Mostly just wasted time especially after going through 160+ hours of school and DOT testing!
That said this is Watkins & Shepard's rating with the DOT:

They have cleaned it up in the last few months. It used to be a lot worse. -
