Wonder what an approved school is as Watkins sees it,another fly by night school that hurries and get the student passed

Hey if FMCSA wants to clean up the streets from unsafe truck drivers then a long training period should be in with the thousands of laws we have.

That's my point, you don't know yet you are quick to have an opinion on how bad the schools they use are. By using speculation and CSA scores you think you have painted a picture of a company with negligent hiring practices but you have not. You have only made assumptions.

It's funny that you usually champion drivers no matter the faults they admit to, however you're stating that the drivers of Watkins & Shepard are substandard because they haven't been trained enough. Since most of don't know the training procedures, the schools they use, the orientation process, or how difficult the scavenger hunt is, it is not fair for us to assume they are just taking any unemployed banker with a CDL.

The proof is all over just look around.Ive been driving since 2002 and I have seen many so called drivers out there that shouldn't be anywhere near a big trk.How long have you been driving??????????Oh and by the way if you look back im not just singling Watkins out my fair opinion implies to all training companies and a lot of these so called schools. My point to this thread is,the longer the training the better chances the driver will be.Why rush the student.Theres a lot to this profession then just driving from point A to point B.

You are assuming the training is the issue with the companies. It's more likely that the culture is the problem. Profits before safety, on time delivery before compliance. Not to mention most drivers aren't aware or simply don't care about the regulations. The problems aren't so simple that more time with a trainer will fix them. People are the problem, we're flawed. Some are better suited for driving than others, but having them spend 8 weeks with a trainer wont be a fix all.

PS this is your worst argument yet.

Oh and yes Watkins is no different then any other training company,as long as you pass their insurance they'll hire you.Companies like this have a huge turnover rate.I bet smurfs company has one of the lowest turnover rates in the industry. One thing Watkins and the other training companies lack is respect for the drivers.Drivers are getting fired by the hundreds due to accidents logs ect ect because they were'nt properly trained. But companies refuse to see that's a problem. They know its a problem but won't fix it to better the industry our roads and to keep FMCSA off our backs.

Profits before safety is exactly right in this industry. Why should the drivers care about regs when companies don't care. The ones u say are suited for driving are the very ones that's suited for another dose of training.Ill ask again, how long have u been driving???????????From what I see on our roads, most the drivers are bad drivers.Very little professionalism with drivers and even worse with companies.

That's why I mentioned the change in culture.

What is your evidence that proves that these drivers are suited for another dose of training? And by another dose do you mean time with a trainer, or do you mean continuing training which every driver should be receiving?

This has little to no bearing on the current discussion. I happen to have the greatest job of them all, no stress, great hours, best co workers on the planet.

Very cool that you can judge a book by it's cover. Maybe you should work in the office behind the scenes and just point out which drivers aren't going to make it. Attitude is often a front, especially in an orientation setting. Drivers have good days and bad days, just like office staff do and just like everyone else in the world does. So while you may think they're unprofessional, they may be thinking the same thing right back about you.

It's also very easy to blame the companies for their lack professionalism. However, just like with drivers, you are only seeing the cover. You have no idea how these companies operate, but you are quick to make assumptions. It's easy to say the owners only care about money, but much like anyone else they are multidimensional. They have multiple concerns and when looking at it from afar, or even up close, it can seem like they don't care. However until you are in the meetings making the decisions, changing the policies, deciding how to balance your situation, let's not just say that every company sucks and doesn't care.

Reason I ask if you have any driving exp because the ones with no exp think they know more then the ones with exp and has'nt seen first hand what training and starter companies are like. The evidence is their driving behavior that tells me they need more training.I have no idea huh????????????? Better think again bud.I know exactly how these companies are.I have yet to see a company that stands out from the others.I tell you what,u seem to know so much but im gathering no exp what so ever, so why don't you try the training and let us know if you can sink all of it into your brain in 10 days.
