Striker; while you are correct, the 15 hour day can be used on your last day before 34 hr restart, however, in this case the extension would not qualify...simply because the storm is predicted and public warnings have been posted and broadcast in advance of the "shut down" weather. (please note the second quoted post above) Also as I put in my earlier post (first quoted post above)...the UNEXPECTED issue to get the 2 hr "emergency" relief.
For all you wannbies and newbies, remember this 15 hour extension rule is only good for local drivers who return each day to the start of operation, or terminal...this is not for OTR drivers. An OTR driver, filling in for a local must have a 34 hour restart before starting the "local" log rules and the "15 hour Friday" rule. And the 15 hour MUST BE followed by a 34 hour restart.

Not really that hard unless you are a really heathy normal truck driver that drives with his belly. All you have to do is cut you a board and and put some cusioning on it and fit it in between the seats. But LEGALY NO! YOU CAN NO TAKE A LEAGAL 10 BREAK IN A DAY CAB
-
Like this?: This is a counter balance belly for the auger and tiller used in our garden...but it has logged some steering time too!
-
thats hardly even a belly. but you drive a daycab dont you? i have no belly and could drive with my belly in a freightliner daycab with the seat all the way against the back wall. LOL.

Real Skateboarders have no bellys.....We work too friggin' hard to get one.....
-
No sirree...OTR...tried that local stuff..add in the commute hours and the long behind the log/wheel hours...18 hours a day to make less than I do OTR. Besides I like the open road.
Thank you for the "not even a belly"...there was a time I could not see my shoe laces...now I pay more attention...I like my toes, watch em wriggle in the mud.
Holding steady at 203#, and a 38 waist...would prefer to get down to 34 again, and 175#...I could almost picture that studly gentleman with the gray (going silver) hair....but then I would have to ask the wife who the new boyfriend is...and I really don't want to go there.AfterShock Thanks this. -
Yeh..sure...must be hard tossin a little rope over the sled and hooking it to the other side.

Absolutely no way I would do that stuff...tarps, chains, width rules....you be my guest...but I do get a kick out of seeing what you skateboarders have under those blankets. -
I couldn't agree more. It took me less than one year to sour on local drivin'. I realize not all local gigs are the same, but, ...............
There's nothin' like the open road. Southern California traffic?
No thanks.
It's bad enough drivin' through bigger cities, --- doin' it full time
ain't for me.
otherhalftw Thanks this. -
Even though I am with DHE, I do my best to avoid the L.A. Basin...playing in Seattle, Portland, and Salt Lake City are bad enough...also the bay area I do my best to stay away from. I-80/I-5/I-84/I-90/I-15...far enough for this old fart!
Had my days of all 48, glad to say I did em all, but I will stay out west and be happy! Plenty of skateboards to watch out here to keep me entertained too!
AfterShock Thanks this. -
Tarp dead cows....real fun.....
