I don't know, in my usual demeanor, I think the healthcare industry is topped off with excrement. I absolutely love sugar. My grandmother worked in the candy dept. at Boston Store, as a kid, always had candy. Then my late ex-MIL worked in the candy dept. at Sears ( for like 50 years) she would get all the outdated candy at pennies on the dollar, so my kids grew up with it as well. Most of my driving years consisted of at least ONE good meal a day, and a bag of jelly beans and a thermos of coffee for the rest. I only have 1 molar left in the back, "old grinder", and suffer some intestinal problems, but not solely because of sugar. I have a retired nurse friend, and he admits, sugar is probably worse for you than marijuana. Again, all about metabolism. I can eat a pound of Sears "double dipped" chocolate covered peanuts, and not gain a pound. My ex-gf merely LOOKED at a cookie, went right to her touchas.
Couple years back on one of my Dr. appts. a blood draw, (when it was covered by Medicaid) indicated border line diabetes. WHAT? I never had a problem with blood sugar, that I knew of, anyway. They said we'll keep an eye on it. I switched to sugar free popsicles, ( the sweetener they use is probably worse than the sugar)Okay,,couple years past, another blood draw,,,nothing said. I asked, what about the "borderline diabetes" you made me panic about? Oh, that, you're fine,,, that alone raised my BP, so, in conclusion, I don't buy much of it.

Yeah @201 but I've lived an unhealthy lifestyle since 19 yrs. old. Sure was fun though! Been all over the world boozing and all that stuff. No regrets though. I'm not bragging or complaining!

That is precisely why diabetes generally is ONLY diagnosed by an A1c test. The last time I took a physical (OVER 10 years ago) they did not stick-check me. They dipped my urine to check for spillover.
These days, I only use a stick check to calibrate my CGM. If my CGM readings are off, it will affect my insulin pump.
I too did not watch my health.Chinatown Thanks this. -

Father time is still undefeated. They keep telling us eventually they’ll be able to stop aging. Most of us alive and working today. Probably missed that ship. But your children might live to be 150 plus. Who knows. Gotta live this life for all it’s worth. Burning the candle at both ends at times is part of it. I’ve lived my life in spurts. I know how to be healthy. I know what needs to be done, but I don’t always do it. No regrets either. Some of my best memories are of my wild youth. lol

I gave up sugar and carbohydrates a couple years ago and it has been the biggest change i had in all my life. No more snoring and gasping for breath while trying to sleep was the first thing i noticed after just a couple months. Then about six months later i realize I have no more pain in my joints. Twelve months in and I finally notice that I never get sleepy while driving anymore that I used to have to pull over and take a nap for. I take no medications, and feel like I am in better health than even when I was in my 20s.
My usual diet now is 4-8 eggs, a pound or two of ground beef, a few ounces of real butter, an occasional fruit such as avocado, and maybe even an orange or kiwi for desert.Lennythedriver and Chinatown Thank this. -

I have not looked at a scale but I had to get some new jeans recently, went from 38 to 32 inches in my pants size. Was trying to lose weight, never even tried counting calories or starving myself.
