Hi droy, I probably would have done the same thing. Like I say, 10 speeds are good city boxes or local stuff, but on the road, I did like the 13. I've heard of companies blocking out the O/D on a 13, so the driver wouldn't get any tickets( I know, brilliant) And I agree about new boxes, they are tight. I've always said, more damage happens when a trans. is new, as they just don't shift like a well used box. I bet that box won't start shifting normal for another 50K miles. Maybe that's engineered in a new box, so you'll ruin it prematurely( I'm the world's biggest skeptic)

with all due respect, WHY make an 18 ??? that is my fav transmission. the KW we owned had an 18 . i have driven several, including my last local and last OTR truck had an 18. not spliting the gears is just LAZY. yes i used to split them in LA traffic 3 or 4 times a week. they didnt make it an 18 just to call it an 18 speed...the gears are there for a reason...no i am not a mechanic or an expert...but for petes sake if you have an 18 drive it the right way..:biggrin_25517:

Had a customer a couple years ago with a 386 pete 55o cat 18 sp. Driver kept complaining about a steering issue, I couldn't seem to understand the problem so I told him to take me for a ride. Bobtail get on I75 he split every gear, Bobtail. I still had no clue what the steering problem was, so I said let me try it. I took off in 2/3 can't remember and skip shifted to the top. Driver looked at me and then the stick and asked, I didn't know you could do that!
Lesson not every driver needs an 18.I personally like them I can tailor the engine to load and terrain conditions for the best economy and performance.
Oh by the way the steering was messed up it would steer right or left and sometimes would have a catch returning to center.
