I applied for a driving job today and they wanted 10yrs of job history, meaning they were asking for every job ive ever had.I have a stable job history for the last 5 years, but before that i've had quite a few jobs, around 7,because i jumped around from job to job while in high school and my first year of college. is this likely to have a negative impact on my job app or do they take age into consideration when looking at job history?

Doubtful trucking is a desperate industry. Just do the best you can on the application and you should be fine. Good luck!

it's a dot requirement. nothing to worry about.

my 10 year employment is never verifiable. no one stays in business. i worked for small shops. and a fortune 500 company.

as things stand right now. i've only got 12 months to verify.

    Nightwind8830 and Shaggy Thank this.

Going to be in the same boat, I've heard that a lot of companies are strict about the job history and got refused a few prehires because of mine. I've heard a few companies like Werner will take just about anyone that hasn't killed anyone on the road, but hoping I don't have to go that route. Just need to be able to get on with a decent company and plan on staying there for a few years to build some credible job history.

You were a student working part time jobs. List yourself as a student during those years working part time.

They're more concerned of 10 years driving job history. I was unemployed for over a year before I hired on and before that didn't have a job for more than 2 1/2 years, most jobs were 1 1/2 years and done, with 3 months here, 6 months there LOL

Do they actually check your application against social security records or anything or just try to verify what is on the app?

    Nightwind8830 Thanks this.

Depends on the recruiter and company obviously. I know that Roehl were real hard ##### about my application. I put down one company I worked for, a fly by night door to door sales operation based out of North Carolina and the scam artist owner never even answers the phone. Roehl's recruiter basically implied that I put false information on my application, which I shot down quite effectively. But Schneider didn't really ask any questions. Most companies don't even check references. You can bet that Roehl will though LOL

some of the places were mom and pop stores that closed, and many of the places the management changed or the entire staff is new,and trying to get exact hire and termination dates from places like petsmart and Petco is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. in the dark. i spend a good chunk of my morning on hold with various HR departments finally I just said screw it and provided approximate dates. I dont think a trucking company will be desperate to verify my employment as a dog groomer or a pet sales associate but hey just figured I'd ask :biggrin_25512:

If you apply with ABF Freight. Get Ready to explain every job from 1 day to 1 month when they find it and they will.
Nothing negative and pretty common to forget stupid little jobs.

Nothing negative, You are fresh in the DOT system, Protect that license and bounce around if you need too.
