there's good niches at every carrier and if you get into one that fits you why go anywhere else

The question that is more puzzling is why do people keep driving for someone else when they can get their own truck and make much more and get more hometime. I went O/O in March and have already more than doubled my earnings from last year and spent about a month more at home. My kids are much happier and everything else is better.

yeah, ok...you doubled your earnings........but what did you pay out in bills, and is your NET about the same as a company driver..???

    that's the REAL question

I am making bank. We we’re making $3000 per week as company drivers. We now average $8,000 to 10,000 per week as owners after fuel, plate, insurance, etc. The only advantage we had before was that health insurance was partially paid for by the company and we had a minuscule 401(k) match. We can now go home anytime we want to and come back to work anytime we want to and believe me we have decided to take more time off then we used to be allowed to when we were company drivers. We started March 1 owing 25,000 on our HELOC with $10,000 in the bank. We now owe nothing on the HELOC and have 90,000 in the bank. And this is after buying a new hot tub and taking the kids to Disneyland. Going O/O was the best decision we ever made. We are a team though so it might be a lot riskier if I was solo.

There is no law on the books that say you have to pay taxes.

Tell me this again in five years. Freight tanks repo man will be looking for you. It is easy to make money in a tight market. However, the market will tank and you will not be ready. Also, we all are not as smart as you.

Right now i know of a guy making payments to the feds. He is making payments every pay. Also 29 years ago knew of another. "They" grabbed his pay checks and took out a chunk, every pay. Just like clockwork. Alot of newer owner ops get the idea it is all their $. Not so. Your " Uncle" wants his share.
