    They want to know what you've been doing the past ten years whether you were driving or not. You can't leave any gaps or your app will be considered incomplete.

    I thought they usually only want 3 yrs back and sometimes 10 on the criminal part of the application.

    The way I understand it is 3 years if you've been a commercial driver and 10 years if you aren't a driver.

    Every company I applied to school with wanted 3. I Don't Have A Cdl yet .

    Ive seen applications on websites that says a 10 yr work history.I like the 3 yr better

    They want 3 then when you get to orientation they ask for 10.Thats how its always been for me anyway.

    The safest bet is to try, to the best of one's ability, to have an uninterrupted 10 year work history, providing that one has not been laid off or terminated from their current job. It is a win-win situation for both the trucking company and the applicant trying to apply for the truck drivers job.
