Oh i hear ya..Got alot of that in ohio yesterday..Turned my.radio off cause of the bs and mentally challanged butt flogging queens..

 

I like the sound of a good well tuned AM radio, but the thought that you need a high output in a CB radio is just rubbish. The radio I run in the truck is a old Cobra tuned to .5 watts dead swings to about 7.25 very clean, using a old turner noise cancelling mic. Quite loud , crystal clear, gets out about 12 to 15 miles fairly dependably, And dose not destroy the adjacent channels unless your really close.

100, 200 or more will surely let you talk to people you cant hear anyway.
I have a Galaxy 95t really don't have much use for it, 100 CB radio, but it is not a good 10 meter rigs at all. So it sits on the shelf above the Service Monitor collecting dust.

 

Honestly i keep thinkin on tossing in my 2nd radio i ever bought..It to is a 29 that was tweeked by the boys in the ta(now a jay) in indiana boarder off the 80 i think..This was done atleast 15+ yrs ago and only had an echo board in it..
Been sotting so long that i gotta open it up and spray out the pots with deoxit to stop all that static when you move the volume n such..I wanna get some fresh cases,new face plate n such to make it look new again..Seems i keep puttin it off though till later...So far later has yet to arrive..
Well seeing i dont deliver in london ontario till 5am tomorrow..Ill just sit here at the j ant clean up some connections and get anal about stuff i dont need to adjust/fix ect and wonder how to improve....

 

I like Electron-wash for cleaning out the pots, denatured alcohol orks . or of course new pots

 

I bought deoxit 2 cause it doesnt affect plastics as well....Saw it on one of hard drives vids and at the guitar shop i visit every 14th purple moon..

 

The best radios I hear are stock radios, with the exception of cobra and Galaxy as they have junk microphones. I'm not taking about "loud" radios, the best sounding radios.

People "try hard" to be loud and "get out" and it hampers what is actually there. Compressed modulation sounding tinny, or too much background noise, over driven, etc...

It's like the difference between listening to someone on a landline vs listening so someone shouting in a bull horn 100 yards away. they are both just as loud, but one is quite annoying. annoying = "blowing smoke" to too many, it seems.

 

Totally agree...Most think its all about the POWAAAAAA!!
A good rk 56 or asatic from 10-15 yrs ago would do nicely to..Still might have one,wonder how my sl41 will work on a base tune cobra...Might over modulate it,dunno..

 

I have a Philippine Unidentifiable Grant that gets good reports. I just both a cobra 29xlr and a 29gts for $20 a a flea market. After a little cleaning and alignments, I’m looking forward to taking them on air

 

You just dont find gold in my home area like that..Most have the basic conra that came with the trk yrs old..Not that i go hunting for stuff like that....

 

Never any lil golden nuggets like that in my area..For the most part its either stock or abused cobras...Radios are not popular in my area..
