Orientation was very simple, more of a meet and greet.
JRV is a great company.
Chrome Nut is a great guy and a dedicated asset.
I had a 2017 trailer and it was 180/wk.
Insurance was 220/wk
Load boards were like 20 or so.
That's it! I belive I pulled over 5k NET on more than one occasion.
Unfortunately I had a personasl issue, so I'm no longer with them, but the best company I have worked for by far....

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Insurance for what?
-
Liability
-
Why bother leasing on with them then? For the same amount of money you can be on your own. What exactly do you need them for?just_sayin Thanks this.
-
Well a few reasons.
1- I had never booked my own freight.
2- start up cost wasn't doable.
3- 13% to handle those things for someone who either doesn't want their own authority, or can't do it yet is a more than fair price.
I needed to learn the ropes of freight lanes, broker interactions, and negotiating seasonal changes in rates and lanes.
It's not very responsible to jump into an industry without knowledge.DarkhorseEnterprises, just_sayin, ChromeNut and 3 others Thank this. -
You're getting ripped off IMO. 15 percent and THEY pay the General Liability is fair. Right now, you're paying all the costs, driver.
-
Well that's your opinion.
I've personally seen companies fail and have to shut down because they thought they could do better.
Even at $1000 a month for insurance, i was saving money. Progressive wanted 5200 to start and 2600 a month start my own authority. The other two were even higher.
So no it wasn't a rip off.
Few % for factoring, which would be higher on my own.
Few % for insurance, same there...DarkhorseEnterprises and ChromeNut Thank this. -
You must have a very high physical damage coverage number, bad credit, live in a bad garaging zipcode, have a horrible driving record or very little driving experience. The reason I say that it because your Progressive quote is ludicrous. I've gotten a few quotes from them ranging from 24k, then 12k and my most recent quote of 9500 yearly.
just_sayin and MYPY Transportation Thank this. -
My credit is fair/not great, I have a 2018 truck, 4 years experience, rural address, clean MVR. Liability is the main cost on a start up. If you're paying 9500, it's because you aren't starting your first liability policy. Continued liability coverage is the only way to reduce that.
So as you can see, not everyone has the same opportunities or circumstances. What they offer is more than fair for a lot of people who need a little time to work on getting prepared for their own authority. Most certainly better than the tens of thousands pulling a mega corporation's trailer around at 1.30/mile.
The highest I've seen is 91%, lowest is 70%.
I don't want to hijack this thread any further. I spent a year with this company, and stand behind my statement. They are a great group to work for. -
This is my first commercial GL policy ever. 1994 truck, 20 years driving experience, no commercial liability policies in the past (other than NTL), 600 credit score, non-rural address, 1 accident and 1 speeding ticket, unlimited mileage radius, 1,000,000/100,000 limits with no physical damage coverage.
If they were so great why not go back to them?
