No. I was a commercial electrician, still am, for 23 years. Had three year run where I made over $100K. Last thing I did was with one of the biggest electrical contractors in Phoenix. Was the Quality Assurance Manager on the new Intel Fabrication Plant here, its in Chandler, a suburb. That paid $30/hr. with about 10 hours or more of OT a week. President of the company offered me any position I wanted in the company when I turned in my notice. I'm burnt on working with, and constantly wiping the ##### of the children now a days. They have no pride, nor motivation, just do what they can to slide by. When I started in the trade you carried your journeyman's tools from his truck to the job, and vice versa at the end of the day.
I had to get to get in the existing fab plants, and saw documentation on the robots that is basically considered top secret. I was one of 5 guys in the company that had all access. $10,000.00 back ground check.
Now I just deliver produce for Punkin for pennies. Nobody F with me, and I like it that way. When my Dad passes, I'll go back to my super regional job with no hassles and make $100K again. That being said I sincerely hope the Old Man lives another 10 years.
What ever you do in this life to get through it, if you do it just for money, you've already failed.Pintlehook Thanks this. -
Why? If that's minimum it won't be worth what it is now. It would be the equivalent of making $7/hr now. Money has no actual value, the value is what it represents, which is the amount of time you worked to get it. Money only makes it so you don't have to work for someone else to buy something they have, but the value is judged on what your job is worth to the market. If burger flippers are valued at $7.50/hr, raising minimum wage to $15 doesn't double the value of their job, it cuts the value of the dollar in half.crb and spyder7723 Thank this.

It seems to be the case with many of these so called cream of the crop jobs that once you have been there long enough to hit the $100k mark you have some young manager trailing you around with a clipboard looking to fire your arse for whatever he can.

Ah a critical thinker. I like it.
That's like our entire monetary system being backed with gold. What can you actually do with gold, except for electrical or electronic purposes? Nothing.
Which is more valuable in the modern world, gold or plutonium? -

You lost me... If someone is paid 15 bucks that's 15 bucks. Amount of time doesn't matter... An hour is an hour
-
The amount of time doesn't matter, it's the value we set on the type of work that takes place in the hour that matters. Otherwise, everyone in this country would make the same hourly wage.HalpinUout Thanks this.

If you give a minimum wage either a 100% raise, and the cost ofgoods and services they produce and use goes up 100%.
Did they get a raise?
If you make $100,000 and your cost of living is $80,000 you then get a 100% raise. Now you make $200,000 and your cost of living is $160,000.
Did you get a raise?
No. You can't purchase more. The government however did get a raise.drvrtech77, Dave_in_AZ and HalpinUout Thank this. -
