Okay. So after some testing I've decided to go ahead and put a 102 1/4 wave on my cascadia. I've had the predator for a long time now and I'm thinking that the 102 is the better choice. However. I cannot decide on exactly where or how to mount it. All comments are appreciated.
Trucks a typical company cascadia sleeper.
Power comes from my little 29 with a 3 watt dead key and 18 swing to a 420 watt linear.

I don't think there is anywhere you can mount it to where you can have both clearance and performance. But I hope you post your results if you do this.

Yes. Gonna do a little thinking and looking this afternoon about it. I believe I am going to have to accept some " shadow" just as I have with my current setup.

I believe that the 102" whip transmits along its entire length. If I am correct about that, then you may well need something like a fuel hose to be slipped over the lower portion of the antenna to prevent transmitting into the body of the truck and getting a high SWR reading caused by power being reflected back to the radio. Just something to consider.

Seen this.... Do you have wings? Guy mounted a fab'ed C" clamp to a pipe then the frame and then welded a flat plate to the top bout 24" tall. Had a ball base swivel so 3 bolts thru the mount plate with ground and sent the 102 north behind the wing. Looked to be right level with the trailer roof. Sorry no pics.......

Sounds like a useful idea. Hitting up a few places today looking for some stainless stock I can use to mount. Gonna be at my consignee later tonite for a delivery in the am. In thinking the wing/fairing would be an acceptable mount.

Do you have a bumper guard on your Cascadia? A piece of plate steel/aluminum, a couple of U-bolts, and you have a place to mount your whip.

I've been thinking of how to mount a "screwdriver" antenna when I get my truck...

Has anyone ever mounted a 102" on a bird perch? I have a bird perch on my Cascadia. It may be low enough to put a 102 whip on it. My 5.5 Francis is doing a pretty good job.

Bird perch. Yes. Just did it to see if I could. It is about two inches above the trailer if you move the bird perch to the bottom mirror hole. And I had to get creative with elastic to keep it from whipping out to far.
Its not gonna stay there because I think I've figured out a wing mount with very little material.

My bird perch is the bottom mirror bolt. My Francis sticks out about 5 inches above my trailer. Works pretty good. All interstate roads (no low clearance) keep the top of the antenna in one piece.
