    40% of nothing is nothing. It's probably 40% of the truck owners gross and not the truck itself. Landstar takes 35% right off the top. So that leaves the 40% he wants to give you from his cut and do 1099. 1099 he doesnt have to pay workers comp or provide insurance benefits.
