Go with a W2 company.A smaller outfit would probably be a little more pay and more friendly to work for.
I'm in a different situation, on a small fleet,1099 job, pays $200 a day if I work or not.I drive local, when the otr guys come in I take their load and finish the delivery, then pick up a new load and take it back to the yard.Pick up and deliver 6 loads a week within 100 mile radius but most are less than 20 miles from our yard.
I'm semi retired so the 1099 job is ok with me,I already have benefits.
Boss said today the loads that paid $3400 last month are $2000 today, that's for 1500 miles. He said no thanks,we will park the trucks.
1099 vs. W-2?

If you are staying company driver go w2, a 1099 isn’t the end of the world if you are just looking to keep busy for a few weeks driving someone’s truck you may know while you are waiting for your truck/numbers etc.
never go lease purchase.
you think you can go anywhere as an owner op, but you really follow the money….wis bang Thanks this. -

I am not sure this board has great info on the difference between 1099 and W-2 , I would check with a CPA
