Sure, no driver has to work for a bad company, after all, we're not communists, but a lot of 1099s require job applicants to agree to run 4,000+ miles a week, which, in turn, obviously, would require the driver to violate their HOS, jeopardizing not only the safety of others on the road, but also their CDLs. One company I applied to recently, (can't remember which one), even told me "Don't worry about HOS. We can make it look legal."
Also, anyone looking for trucking jobs on Indeed.com better watch out. Indeed allows these 1099s to advertise on it platform, most likely not even knowing the legal implications of driving 4,000+ or even 3500 miles a week.
1099s force drivers to violate HOS.

3500 in a week is doable. You just have to keep that left door shut.
Getting in an out of the places you pick up from and deliver to in a timely manner also helps. -
If a driver is stupid enough to be a 1099 driver with no contract or no balls to do the right thing, then it is on them and only them.
a 1099 driver is one who calls the shots, they can’t be forced to do a thing.Long FLD, firemedic2816, Numb and 9 others Thank this. -
You mean something like this company making driver run over HOS. It’s amazing to see how this company is getting around the trucking law and HOS. There are other videos about this company and the accident. Also how the government doesn’t check simple things like addresses of these fake/outlaw companies.

I drive a 67 mph truck and average 3700 every 10 days, those 10 days include 2 to 4 days of hometime. 3500 miles a week is very doable, 4000 a week is also doable with good dispatchers... I did 4300 miles in 6.5 days a few weeks ago and still had over 3 hours on my 70.
