    Hi all,
    I am having a bit of trouble here. I do not have an issue with shifting or double clutching, however, when it comes to downshifting, I get a little lost as to where I am in the gears. I dont know if its the fact that I am starting out in second gear and dont remember that. I am used to a 5spd car. I am ok from 2 to 5, hit the splitter, and am good at 6, but going higher then downshifting i get lost as to where I am. Does this make any sense? I dont really know how to explain it. Anyone have any tips or tricks for remembering where you are in the gearing?
    Thanks

    10=45+ 9=40 8=30 7=25 6=20 5=15 4=10mph ..as a general rule....make sense?

    :biggrin_2558:Just remember that there are 5 low gears & 5 high.
    When you split from low to high put the shifter in the same gears that you did on the low side. 1/6 toward you & down, 2/7 neutral then over a little then up, 3/8
    streight down, 4/9 all the way over than up, 5/10 streight down. By looking at the stick you should be able to see what gear you are in. It takes practice,it will come to you.:biggrin_25514:
    When down shifting just reverse the process, it takes practice, be patient.

    Don't think you need to downshift from 10 to 9 to 8 to 7 etc. Why beat yourself up? You only need to downshift when slowing for a turn or if the light turns green suddenly as you are approaching a red. You can leave it in gear from top speed down to almost a complete stop. The Ca. DMV says you only need to downshift 2 times during the road test, and that's one gear, not all 10.
