10w-30 motor oil

    Just curious why so many Mack dealers are clueless about 10-30 engine oils?

    I ran into another one in Hagerstown MD (Baltimore truck) that i had to show my owners manual to because they thought the new trucks were still 15w-40 .....

    Seems that Mack might be lacking dealer training on the motor oil subject....

    15w40 has been the defacto viscosity for so long it is hard for some to get out of that mindset. It is surprising to think that they don't have a clue since all new trucks are shipped with 10w30 from the factory and says so right on the spec sheets on delivery.

    Funny you said that , i actually said the same thing that they're shipped with 10-30 and several guys , including the shop manager argued they use 15-40 .....

    So i broke out the owner manual and they had a quick change in their attitude.

    I kinda look at it like ignorance of basic info they should already know.... Good lord it sure makes it hard to trust them on knowledge of anything complicated.... Lol
