No bribes to unload! One of the reasons we got rid of our vans and refers was that this was becoming commonplace in some areas. Once it gets started it's almost impossible to stop and it turns into an auction with drivers trying to outbid each other with bribes.
No bribes.
11 Hours and not unloaded.

I couldn't agree more. Last thing I'm going to give them is money AND time in exchange for grief. We pay enough to get paid. I will never tip, bribe or part with a dollar at a dock. Probably why I don't deliver to grocery DC's.fordconvert, Coover, JoeyJunk and 4 others Thank this.

Just marking it refused and bringing it back is a terrible idea. You’re going to lose so much money and good luck getting paid. You think the broker will just say OK and send a new rate con for the load back?! With the driver late it’s kind of a bad situation for you and if bribing doesn’t work you’re just going to have to wait.

Actually lower for the morons who can’t deliver on time.. A blizzard is a understandable reason for a rescheduled load..Blaming traffic isn’t.JoeyJunk, bryan21384, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this.

When I was with Landstar I has custom refuse a load because it was on the wrong type of trailer for unloading. I had standard 53 dry van trailer and that's how it was posted as trailer needed for the load. When I got to delivery they said they requested a trailer with lift gate because they had no unloading docks. I called Lancaster agent. He said that customer did not request lift gate trailer.
The agent told me to take load to Roadway terminal and unload it. Roadway would deliver the the load in about 4 weeks when they could get lift gate truck or trailer..
Maybe you can Roadway or another LTL trucking company with terminal close by to unload and deliver the load next week.
My current company I had load shipper was 5 hours late loading trailer. So I was 5 hours late delivery. Customer Chewy pet foods in PA told my company next open appointment was next week. My company had me haul the trailer 300 miles to our drop yard and another driver would deliver it next week. Kinda crazy bet shipper was 5 hours late loading trailer. Not sure if shipper paid extra.bryan21384, Siinman and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I side with this thought. If the driver in the original post was an hour late due to traffic, I can't help but wonder if the driver cut it too close, woke up late etc. Those are mistakes you make when you're inexperienced and/or reliant on the fact that you can leave later because you have a wide open truck. Most loads going to these places have ample time to get them there so you gotta plan e ery load accordingly.Concorde Thanks this.
