Your one of the lucky guys with one of those motors. Im a bit jealous. Like they say no replacement for displacement.
-
So hows it running pulling a load? How much boost are you getting out of it now?
-
Thing is a freight train now. Will pull hard in every gear and even if I lug it down it will recover and pull up through the rpm. I see around 36-38psi on boost now on a hard pull. I just bought a 18 speed for the truck so that's going to greatly improve the trucks pulling ability too. Over the 10 speed.
-
yes, that 18 will make a good difference, a friend of mine had a 10 speed and swapped it to an 18 and it was day and night, a lot better, quicker on every gear and much easier to drive.
-
Ya I can't wait to get that 18 speed in. The truck will be some much more versatile once installed.

this video me running with 70000lbs series 60 12.7 rebel tuned with 1702 and 10speed. have a new motor i'm putting together bigger turbo and injectors + a 18speed so i'm going to have a whole new monster
Vampire Thanks this. -
Looks good. You going to do a bigger can on your new motor?
-
has your mpg changed? I keep thinking about doing this (only changed to 171702 and using a bully dog tuner) but at the same time I am less confident as to how much life my truck has left in it. Keep saying 1 more year .. lol

Yes I'm running around 6.4-6.5 mph with my 379 long good Pete. I used to run around 6-6.1 mpg.
