I have jakes now and they work awesome. I'd hate to change them and have them not work as good as mine do now.

Well, here's this boneheaded crap with my jakes now. The engine serial calls for 1681 cam and 765A jakes. But my jakes are now out, and the label on them shows 765. And if I put in 4292 cam, it has a higher lobes than 1681, I assume. And 4292 lists 770 model for jakes.
The only difference among the 3 jakes (765, 765A and 770) I've been able to research so far is that the 770 uses a different lash screw and therefore requires a bit different installation than the other two.
Also, jake brake lash. 765s (is probably what I have) need to be set for 0.660 mm. But 765A and 770 want 0.584 mm.
Question, I guess, and forgive my ignorance on the subject, is if my 765s would physically fit on the higher lobe lift 4292 cam? Also even if they do, which number for jakes lash to use? Clueless at this point.
To buy 770 jakes would cost $1.5k-2k. Hopefully this could be avoided. -
Its very easy.
You set the lash for jakes according to model of jake head. Has nothing to do with your cam lift.
For instance, i have 795 jake heads on my ddec4. It says right on the jake head to set the lash at 35 thou.
You set your injector hight to model of cam. -
Rorro Thanks this.
