Have 1.5 on my 12.7 Detroit rebuilt it full rebuilt turbo injectors and all except manifold was getting 7.8 whOle year didn't check in a while noticed more fuel stops checked is 5mpg I see the manifold might be leaking few spots and muffler sounds a bit clogged... you that be enough to throw it off? Did an overhead after like 50k you guys think that's all I need done? Engine sound and works without a struggle too

It could be the manifold however you'd have to have a major blockage to cause bad mpg there are lots of other issues such as the speed you drive at for example a vehicle running at 55 mph will get around 9 mpg subtract at least .1 per gal for every extra mph you do to get a gauge for fuel economy. Recently Peterbilt ran a road test with their new model truck loaded at 66,000 lb @ 65 mph and got 10.7 mpg.

Check the intake side for boost leaks. A small one can cost you a bunch in MPGs. Really all kinds of things can suck your fuel down. The cold weather has cost me about 1 mpg.

truckerbangin and Bean Jr. Thank this.
