Take a bottle of water half full. Set it on top of valve cover engine at idle. It should be still. Have someone rev the engine it shouldn’t ripple but slightly on top. If I knew how to post a video I could show you an example of what is acceptable

It’s funny you mentioned this. I was going to do it a month ago until my attitude went to crap. I will do it tomorrow and post the vids.

I got my insurance reinstated and renting a trailer tomorrow. Will be back at it Sunday or Monday. Like I told @D.Tibbitt , I’m going to run it till it breaks or the lawsuit is finished.

Yes you can buy a filter base at fleet pride, truck pro etc. usually a bracket for them is easily fabbed up as it doesn’t have to bolt to the engine it can use the frame or firewall. You come out of the outlet of water pump go to inlet of filter base. Then from outlet of filter base to the side of the block or top of head doesn’t really matter just needs to return of course. You can tee into an existing fitting on either side. 3/8 hose is what most run.

I think they are pretty standard other than some have conditioner for different types of coolant in them. As long as the precharge matches your coolant type you should be good

Are you sure? My 2250 had one. Filter was about the size of a small oil filter for a car, on the passenger side.

Oxbow, Feedman and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

I suggest putting the shutoffs at the engine, not the filter. That way if a hose leaks or just needs changing, it can be isolated and changed easily. As long as the filters mounted higher than the valves, won’t lose any more coolant when changing filters than if the shutoffs are right at the filter, like most are plumbed.

    JoeyJunk and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
