well i had to replace the fan on my 06 pete the other day MXS cat with that big ol 12 blade fan the center of the hub broke out all the way around the bolt holes ( it was about to get ugly) i have replaced atleast 3 or 4 fan-hubs on this truck, my guess is the fan was too big of a drag on the hub, i could rev the motor with the hood open and it would suck it shut , i put a 8 blade fan back on it like i have on my 01 star and it was a tremendous difference , truck runs just as cool as ever , even picked it up a GEAR on long hard pulls , not even as noisy , i bet the 8- blade was 10lb. lighter too , that should help the hub , maybe even some better fuel milage too ,
12 blade fan what a joke

Ever since early 2005, they have had nothing but issues with the fans. Especially if you keep the fan on with higher rpm's. hose fans pull a heck of alot of air.

A fan on a truck can use up to 100 horsepower when on if you can believe that. So your 500 hp truck going up a hill with the fan on is really acting like a 400 hp truck.

helps with engine braking though but sucks up hill.

Horton had a recall on there fan hubs for an upgrade kit. Peterbilt should have told you about it back in 2007. In fact I still have my letter dated May 11 2007.

My hubs only last about a year on my 05 MXS, the last one took the hub, fan, radiator, about $2200 in all
