I am a company driver, so I don't file IFTA. I do track my fuel stops and economy to compare against my company's bonus numbers.
Fron July 1 to July 29 I drove 10,039 miles on the hub. I fueled 12 times for a total of 1155.2 gallons for 8.68 mpg.
I'm not saying the guy is tellingly the whole story, but if it was only interstate driving, running 60 mph, I can believe hitting 12 mpg in 1,100 miles. Increase the miles by an order if magnitude and I would expect between 8 and 9.
If you drive for fuel economy like Nussbaum does, they report a fleet average of over 9 mpg.Crude Truckin', Intothesunset, stillwurkin and 2 others Thank this. -
I get 6 in the summer and mid 4’s in the Arctic winter ...... still doesn’t add up in my mind to buy a new truck just for fuel mileage......
Intothesunset, stillwurkin, Bean Jr. and 1 other person Thank this. -
If faced with HAVING to replace your truck then having a "warranty " and at least $10,000 in annual fuel savings can make an awful lot of sense. Particularly because anyone selling old iron now is doing it for a reason.Intothesunset and Bean Jr. Thank this.

I also noticed he showed an average speed of 47 mph for that 1000 mile leg. Perhaps it can be done, if you are willing to drive that slow.alds, Intothesunset, stillwurkin and 1 other person Thank this.

That number is way off. Mine shows 50 mph for today, but I actually did 55ish (back roads).
But yeah, I'm betting he had the cruise set at 58alds, stillwurkin and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
That's what I averaged in the 16FL i drove also. Pulling flat. In the western region.
It was also the best economy truck I ever drove. Everything else I drove before that was 6 to 5.Intothesunset, stillwurkin and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
