Manual transmission? Check clutch switch. Should be somewhere on the pedal or linkage.

Could be clutch switch, brake switch, or could be inside the transmission -- had that happen when the synchro's wore out. That wasn't cheap.... hope it's one of the switches.

Had that problem years ago. It wouldn't do it with a mechanic around though. "Will you go to Vancouver and we will get it looked at there?" . Me"no, I'll be back at the shop in an hour drop trailer here or bring it back?"

Saw your other thread about your speedometer not working all the time. Did the speedo and Jake problem both begin right after having the clutch replaced? Reason I ask is some shops are lazy and take short cuts, had a clutch job done once and they stretched out my wire harness because they didn't unstrap it from my trans when they slide it back to do the clutch.

Perhaps you have a damaged wire harness causing both problems, especially if they pulled hard on it when dropping the trans for the clutch job. Hopefully it is a simpler fix, likely they didn't readjust your clutch manual linkage after changing the clutch disc so the switch that senses clutch position isn't working properly.

Does your cruise control still work properly? Lake and cruise circuit get their signals from the same set of sensors -brake and clutch position switches as well as the dash switches to turn on Jake. With the speedo problem you could have a bad wire harness behind the dash causing both problems, Is there any correlation between the speedo and Jake not working at the same time?
