A "Clutch Brake" and a "13 Speed Clutch" are not the same thing, the clutch brake costs about 10 dollars and 30 minutes to change and the clutch costs about 600 dollars and the transmission has to be removed to change it.

Whatever mechanic said he could not adjust the clutch because it was "frozen" should never be trusted to work on anything you care about.

If you have a one piece clutch brake that has worn to the point of not functioning and cannot be adjusted the symptom is difficulty putting the truck into gear at a dead stop without grinding, there are no other symptoms because the clutch brake serves no other purpose.

To change the clutch brake requires an air chisel (20 bucks from harbor freight) and about 20 minutes of cussing as you get dust in your eyes chiseling the old clutch brake in half so you can pull it out; I make my teenage son do it nowadays :)

Once its out a new one piece clutch brake takes about 10 minutes to install and adjust, next time the air chisel won't be needed because the two piece clutch brake pops out quickly with one good pop with a regular chisel at the middle.

If your clutch does not slip and you have adequate free travel there is no reason to change your clutch, the clutch brake is a common failure because it is destroyed whenever the clutch is fully depressed while the truck is still moving.

If the clutch is never fully depressed until the truck is at a complete stop the clutch brake will last the life of the clutch, some guys rarely need them replaced and some guys can't get a full day out of one without destroying it.

YEP,,,if you cannot diagnose a trusted expert will. A second opinion from someone who really knows is so reassuring before delving in yourself.
